Look at my big haul !

Sunday I went to a fabric market better to say to the best fabric market I ever went to.
And of course I couldn't control myself. I bought and bought and bought and you wouldn't believe it but I could have been buying even more if I had taken more money with me... But for god's sake I didn't. Who knows what would have happened... :-)

But it really was worth it. Here is my prey (click to enlarge the fotos):

These are for some baby projects:

I bought these because they were so cute :-) :

This will be for a skirt, I think:

With this one I wanna make some cozy pants for my baby boy:

This oil cloth is perfect for a bag or tote:

And these will be skirts some day, too...

And of course I also had to buy some sewing supplies.
I can never resist nice ribbons :-)

And you always need some supplies in case you make yourself a bag, you know:

And, as my boy is named Lucas I had to buy some "l"s - just as a precaution for the future. I don't know yet what their destination will be, but they will be used for sure :

I would do anything...

... to get a heartwarming smile from my baby!

That's why I made various mobiles to hang up all over the place.
At first I made a sweet birdie mobile. He loves it:

Then I got a little more ambitious and made a whole forest mobile for the babies room. We haven't tried it out because the crib isn't ready yet and I want to hang it above it. But I worked many hours to make the animals and some of them look really cute:

Then I thought that a little mobile above the changing table would be nice. So I made a really fast butterfly mobile which the baby loves. After waking up in the morning he really is as merry as a lark when he sees his beloved butterflies:

And a few weeks ago I read that babies can only appreciate light and dark contrasts at first. So I made a very, very simple mobile with what I call coloured fried eggs ;-) He loves this mobile, too.
But I really have to say that he is fascinated by any mobile. It's really satisfying to make mobiles for this baby! Perhaps there will follow some more ;-)

Oh... I really forgot!

Hi there again!

Today it suddenly came to my mind that I still owe you some pics of my handmade Christmas presents. I know... it's almost Easter, but I had to wait until everyone got his presents. Otherwise I would have spoiled it. And to be honest, there's still one christmas present left in my house and will be handed out this month - hopefully :-) But I think I can take the risk to reveal it...

Last Christmas I wanted to make everything by myself, so I rubber-stamped some tea towels, made some mexican tortilla wrap seasoning (with paprika, chili, cumin, cinnamon, ginger, cilantro, salt and pepper) and some bathtub-teas. Therefore I made some little tea bags and filled it with rosemary - which has an analeptic effect, peppermint - to use if you have a cold for example, lavender and hop - because of its calming properties and calendula - which has curative effects.
This were really small little giveaways this year, but at least I took some time to make them by myself and to wrap it with love.

Here are the pictures:

And now I can declare Christmas to be over - finally ;-)
Next post will be a baby craft post again!

I'm back - and I have something NEW to show you!

Wow! It´s been a looong time since the last post! It seems like an eternity for me because since then my whole life changed.
And here´s why:

This is Lucas who was born in january and kept us busy the last eight weeks. And although it´s been said thousands of times it is true that you can´t really imagine how a child changes your life till you have one yourself. It means so much more work, stress, worries, sleeplessness, sometimes even dispair, but on the other hand the joy and happiness you feel is so overwhelming and above all you experience a love that you didn´t even know before. It almost hurts. ...
It really was said so often and yet... I've never imagined that it would feel like this :-) ...

In the last weeks before his birth I was busy painting his nursery. I had a forest room in mind but I didn't know if it would work out. All I knew was that I wanted to paint it myself and not to use any wall decals. And I painted... and painted... and was happy because it worked out... but I got a little stressed, because it took so long and the estimated birth date came nearer and nearer. - But fortunetly my friend Maike was right: Babies wait to be born 'til their nursery is ready :-)

Here are some impressions of the baby's room. I'm really proud of the result and can't wait Lucas to move in there. At the moment he still sleeps in our bedroom (that's also the reason why you will be missing the crib in the nursery - it isn't set yet).

Now look ... here's a general view (click on the images to enlarge them if you like):

And now I wanna show you some details.
I'll start with some painted animals and plants ...

..and here is part of the decoration!

...granny's embroidered levelling board:

... a mushroom stool:

... a tree with two owls that were a showcase decoration in a fashion store before:

... some creatures :-)

... my selfmade felt garland:

... and last but not least, some of the lamps:

So...? What do you think? Do you like it as much as I do?
I still have some ideas to complete it... and of course I will show them to you when they're ready.
:-)
